L'Oreal | Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

Monday, 23 December 2013

When you think of micellar waters one brand immediately springs to mind. Bioderma. But with the expensive price tag to go with it, I have never reached for a bottle. So when I saw that L'Oreal had created their very own for only £4.99 (200ml),  I thought it was time I saw what the fuss was about.
This Micellar solution is a makeup remover, toner and purifier in one. It unclogs the pores by drawing out excess oils and impurities in a way that is as gentle as water.

Having never used Bioderma, I cannot compare the two however I am obsessed with this! It removes my makeup really well and leaves my face feeling fresh and smooth. It does struggle slightly with waterproof mascara as its not oil based but still does a pretty good job. Since I discovered this I prefer using it over face wipes as I find they end up smearing makeup over my face rather than actually removing it. This is really handy to have to remove makeup quickly or to correct those annoying makeup smudges like mascara or lipstick! I don't use this alone to clean my face on a daily basis, I use it before using my Clarisonic Mia 2 (review coming soon!) and it does the job perfectly.

For the price I think this is a fabulous product with so many uses. It's really handy to have on my dresser and will be a must have for me for travelling. I'm now on my second bottle and can happily say its my most used makeup remover.

Available to buy instore and online from Boots and Superdrug for £4.99 for 200ml as well as some supermarkets.

Have you tried Micellar waters? What are your favourites? Let me know in the comments!

Lush | The Mask Of Magnaminty

Sunday, 15 December 2013

In the never ending quest for beautiful skin, the Mask Of Magnaminty from Lush has recently become my most reached for face mask in these past few months. I am relatively new to Lush products, and I bought this mask in particular because Nicole Guerrero and Jaclyn Hill from YouTube picked it up in a recent haul (if you don't know who I'm talking about you need to check them out!).

For starters, this mask smells just like mint chocolate chip ice cream. It kind of looks like it too with the ground aduki beans in it which help to exfoliate the skin. If you don't like the smell of peppermint in face products then this mask probably isn't for you. I know some people find it quite overpowering, however I think it is a really refreshing scent.

The consistency of this mask is really thick and creamy and has a slightly gel like feel to it. It applies smoothly to the face and mask instantly cools the skin which then creates a tingling feeling. To me this feels so invigorating and makes me feel like the mask is really getting to work in removing impurities deep down in my pores. This sensation comes from the peppermint oil in the mask that stimulates blood flow, and is meant to reduce redness of acne. As the mask dries and hardens, the feeling wears off.

The mask takes around ten minutes to dry and hardens to a crumbly clay sort of finish. It does tighten on the skin as it dries but its not uncomfortable. To rinse off, you can use your hands or a face cloth. As this mask has exfoliating particles in it, you have the option of gently scrubbing your face as you remove it. This is how I choose to remove it as I have dry skin I and any sort of exfoliating is good for me! It is really gentle though, so even if your skin is sensitive it shouldn't irritate it.

After using the Mask of Magnaminty, my skin always looks instantly brighter and more alive. I have this sort of glow that only comes when something really deeply cleanses my skin. This mask works wonders on my pores, in particular on my cheeks and makes them much less visible. The peppermint smell lingers on the face too which makes my skin smell really fresh and clean. Straight after using this mask I spray a couple of spritz of Lush's Tea Tree Water- read my review here, and then apply my regular moisturiser. I like to use this once a week to give my skin a little TLC after a long hard week!

This mask can be used on other areas of the body that suffers from acne like the back or chest. As this doesn't really happen to me I have never used it on anywhere other than my face. Lush offers two different tub sizes so first timers don't have to commit to the largest tub. I actually think I will stick to the smaller tub (125g) as even this size looks like it will last me a little while, and makes it easier to use before the expiration date. This mask doesn't need to be kept in the fridge to keep it fresh, but you can to make it even more cooling on the skin.

The Mask Of Magnaminty can be purchased in store or online for £5.25 (125g) or £9.25 (315g)- link

KIKO | 01 Lounge Warm Tones Eyeshadow Palette

Sunday, 8 December 2013

On a recent shopping trip to Westfield's in Stratford, I found myself in the KIKO Cosmetics store. One of the many things that caught my eye was this limited edition palette from their Dark Heroine collection.

The palette itself is small and sturdy with a nice sized mirror that takes up the entire lid. Its a great size for travel but is a little on the chunky side in its thickness. This palette doesn't include a brush, although that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

A is a rich warm chocolate brown shade with a matte finish
B is an intense wine coloured shade with purple undertones and a satin finish
C is a light shimmery gold shade
D is a brown toned bronze with a shimmery finish
E is a cream shade with a pearly finish
F is a shimmery champagne shade

The palette contains six beautiful shades which all lean towards the warm end of the spectrum. I love the array of finishes in the palette with matte and satin finishes which are great to put in the crease, and the shimmery shades for the lid. You can easily create a variety of looks with this palette from neutral everyday, to something more dark and smoky for the evening. The pigmentation of these shadows is amazing, and on the eyes they blend out beautifully. For only £16.90, this palette rivals many high end brands in terms of quality.

This palette is a must have for the festive season and would make light work of any Christmas party makeup. I am so impressed with the quality of KIKO products I will definitely be back for more in the near future.

The 01 Lounge Warm Tones Eyeshadow palette  is available in store and online from KIKO Cosmetics - link

10 Things I Love About Christmas!

Sunday, 1 December 2013

I can now officially say its Christmas Time!

I refuse to say its Christmas before the 1st of December even if the shops start filling the shelves with Festive goodies from October! I must admit, Christmas is one of the only things I enjoy about the winter time. I don't enjoy being cold so I would definitely say I'm a summer time girl!

As I am feeling very festive today, I thought I would write a little post on the 10 things I love about Christmas. Here is my list!

1. FOOD

Anyone who knows me should definitely know that this is top of my list! I adore the comforting food at Christmas time! The HUGE Christmas roast with all the trimmings, the mulled wine, Quality Street's, cheese and crackers ( the posh ones!) the list is endless! One of my favourites has to be my Nan's home made Christmas Pudding. She actually makes enough for me to eat them all the way through January!

2. Christmas Shopping

This may sound slightly insane but I do enjoy the stress of buying gifts for friends an family. To see their little faces light up when they love what I bought makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside!

3. Wrapping Gifts

I may not be the best at it, but I do love wrapping presents! I love finding the most beautiful paper and going to town with bows and ribbons and glitter!

4. Starbucks Eggnog Latte

This drink is quite literally Christmas in a cup. I am obsessed with it! It's creamy with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Very festive!

5. Time Off Work

I am lucky to get nearly two weeks of work for Christmas which I am very thankful for! Gives me time to relax and be ready for the new year!

6. Family Time

Christmas is definitely a time when we spend more quality time as a family. I'm a very family orientated person so this is very special to me.

7. Christmas Movies

My all time favourite has to be Elf. I try and watch it as much as humanly possible in December as I feel I can't watch it at any other time of the year!

8. Novelty Christmas Clothing

I am so excited to wear my new novelty jumper that I got from Primark. It was an absolute bargain! I also picked up the cutest Reindeer and Snowflake knitted leggings too. They are so comfortable and soft! Seriously Primark have nailed Christmas clothing this year, check them out if you can!

9. Christmas Lights

The streets of London look so much more beautiful covered in fairy lights!

10.  Cheesy Christmas Songs

Who can resist all the cheesy Christmas songs! If I had to pick one favourite it would have to be Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday but I love them all.

I hope this post made you feel super festive! I would love to read your 10 things you love about Christmas so I tag all my readers to make your own list! Please leave a comment below so I can find you!

Lush | Tea Tree Water

Saturday, 30 November 2013

After venturing into a Lush store for the first time this month, I can't believe what I've been missing! Their product selection is quite astounding so I could have been in there hours just browsing!

I picked up their Tea Tree Toner Water in the 100g size to try it out. I had heard some great things about it from YouTube Guru Casey Holmes who swears by it in her skin care routine. Tea tree is a renowned ingredient for combating spots and blemishes and I currenlty don't have anything like it in my routine at the moment.

Tarte | Off The Cuff Amazonian Clay Blush Palette

Saturday, 23 November 2013

Left to right: Crave, Dazzled, Darling, Dollface & Park Avenue Princess
Left to right: Crave, Dazzled, Darling, Dollface & Park Avenue Princess

I was lucky enough to have a friend in the US when this limited edition palette was launched in Sephora,  and she managed to pick one up for me. Tarte is a brand that isn't readily available here in the UK yet and I don't understand why! Their products are amazing!

This is a limited edition palette for the holiday season and contains four of Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blushes and one bronzer. It also comes with a super cute black wrist cuff with a gold bow.

The palette itself is so gorgeous with its silver sparkly fabric. It would make a perfect evening clutch! It has a good sized mirror in the lid and is very light weight and slim. Which is also perfect for makeup hoarders like myself! The black leather style cuff that comes with the palette is surprisingly great quality and looks really nice on.

Crave is a vibrant mid tone pinky coral with warm undertones. It has a satin finish and amazing pigmentation.

Dazzled is a muted rose toned shade with hints of plum to it. This blush has some very fine shimmer running through it but still has a satin finish. It also had great pigmentation.

Darling is mid toned peach shade with a subtle hint of pink to it. This shade has more of a matte finish and good colour pay off.

Dollface is a cool, bright medium pink with blue undertones. This again has a satin finish and is the most pigmented of all five shades. This is the ultimate barbie pink blush in my opinion!

Park Avenue Princess is a warm golden brown bronzer with satin finish. It has excellent colour pay off and a buttery soft texture.

All the blushes in this palette are outstanding. Their texture is incredibly smooth but not at all chalky or ashy. These are the most pigmented blushes I own so very little goes a long way. One light tap into the pan is all you need on your brush! They blend like a dream and aren't choppy which can sometimes happen with powder products. The most impressive aspect of these blushes is their staying power. The longest I have worn them for is 7 hours and they where still going strong. No patchiness at all!

All in all, this is a must have palette to own. The palette has a great range of colours and are great quality. Each blush retails for around $30, and this palette retails for $42 so you are also getting a great deal.

This palette is available from Sephora -link and they do offer worldwide shipping!

Sleek Makeup | i Divine Ultra Matte V2 Darks Eyeshadow Palette

Friday, 22 November 2013

Whilst taking advantage of Superdrug's recent 3 for 2 offer, I picked up my first ever Sleek purchase. The Ultra Matte V2 Eyeshadow Palette caught my eye with it's very fall appropriate shades and I'm a sucker for matte formulas although they are quite tricky to pull off.

MAC Night Divine Collection Lipstick | Private Party

Thursday, 14 November 2013

MAC recently launched their new Night Divine collection for the holiday season.  As soon as I saw this lipstick I knew I had to have it.

Private Party is described as a dirty plum mauve with a satin finish. It is a dusky medium-dark plum with cool pink undertones. The formula is really creamy and glides onto the lips like a dream. It gives opaque colour coverage and lasted around 5 hours on my lips which left a slight stain.

The gold limited edition packaging is absolutely stunning which is very holiday appropriate and gives the collection that extra special touch.

For me, Private Party is the perfect mix of pink and plum. I own other plum lipsticks which are much darker than this (like MAC's diva) which are great for a night out but sometimes feel a bit too intense for everyday wear. Private Party is subtle enough to wear in the day time without being too vampy. This will definitely be my go to plum shade this winter.

The entire MAC Night Divine Collection is stunning with lots of gorgeous festive shades. The collection contains mineralize blushes, skin finishes and eye shadows, as well as fluid lines, lip glasses, nail lacquers, Kohl eye pencils and another four lipsticks. Perfect for glamorous Christmas party make up!

Unfortunately Private Party (£16.50) is currently sold out online so check your nearest MAC counters and stores for availability.

Crown Brush Haul

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

Ever since I discovered Crown Brush earlier this year, so many of their brushes have caught my eye. Makeup brushes are a serious obsession of mine and I think using the right tools can bring any makeup look to the next level! The brand recently gave their Facebook friends 20% off all their brushes so naturally, I took advantage and purchased four brushes.

C450 Pointed Foundation (£16.99)

This brush is from their recently Infinity Series and are made from synthetic hair. This is of course a foundation brush and I have never owned one with a pointed tip. The first thing I want to mention is how soft this brush is. I can honestly say this is now the softest face brush I own. You can use it to apply liquid, cream and powder products. My favourite way to use this brush is for my under eye concealer. It blends it out beautifully and the tapered tip fits perfectly in this area. I also like to use it for contouring the cheekbones as it offers both precision but blended results.

C451 Small Round Buffer (£12.99)

As the name suggest this brush is perfect for buffing in cream, gels and liquids into the skin. The C451 is also part of the Infinity collection. This brush is again really soft, but not as soft as the C450. The short dense bristles give my foundation a flawless airbrushed finish. I would compare it to my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush  It also works really well when applying cream blush too.

SS021 Syntho Blending Fluff (£4.99)

This synthetic blending brush is an absolute dream to work with. I use it to apply shadow into the crease of my eye or to blend colours together and it makes this task effortless. The density and shape is very similar to the MAC 217 which is four times the price! I would recommend this brush to anyone and will definitely be buying more of these.

C408 Chisel Shader (£3.69)

When I bought this brush I wasn't expecting much, but let me tell you how wrong I was! This is by far the best brush to pack colour onto the eyelid that I have ever tried! My previous favourite was my MAC 242 but this does a far better job for half the effort. I haven't used anything else since I bought it. Some brushes pick up a lot of product but don't transfer it onto the lid very well. The C408 does both. Another thing I love about it is that that it also produces hardly any fallout. This shading brush is small so it has plenty of precision. If Crown Brush make a larger version of this I will be grabbing another.

I hope you enjoyed this little haul! I am so pleased with all my purchases. Crown Brush are a fabulous brand with affordable and great quality brushes.

You can also check out my other review on a range of their blending eye brushes- link

I am also excited to bring you an exclusive discount code for my readers! You can get 10% off your order with Crown Brush for the month of November by shopping through the link in this post and using the code FINNO2013 at the checkout.

Do you own any Crown Brushes? What are your favourites? Let me know your suggestions!

Vaseline | Spray & Go Body Moisturiser

Tuesday, 12 November 2013

I've had this moisturiser for a little while now and it's nearly empty so I thought I better let you know what I think of it. Vaseline released this innovative moisturiser in the summer time and it caught my eye instantly. I don't know about you but I find the whole moisturising process very laborious, so I was excited to give this a try.

Seche Nail Lacquer | Contemporary

Monday, 11 November 2013

My lovely friend bought me this nail colour whilst she was exhibiting at Beauty North last month, and I have been patiently waiting until I got my acrylic's re done to debut it!

Osmo | Berber Hair Oil Treatment

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

Hair treatments are something that I don't tend to bother with on a regular basis. I go through phases where I take it very seriously for a few weeks and then I'm back to scragging it up into a bun and ignoring it. Recently however, I have noticed how dry my hair has become. Especially the ends. My hair hasn't been trimmed in a good few months which is probably a significant factor in its lack lustre appearance, but also the fact that I haven't been giving it the TLC it needs. I picked up this Osmo Hair Oil to try and bring some life back into my locks!

Brown Smokey Eye Using MAC Eyeshadows

Saturday, 26 October 2013

This brown smokey eye is one of my favourite eye shadow looks to do if I'm going out for an evening. It's bold but not overpowering and will go with just about any outfit or lip colour! If you aren't used to wearing dark eyeshadows, using brown tones instead of black is the perfect way to try it out and the good news is brown shades suit everyone! I used all MAC eyeshadows to create this look however you can use any shades that you have. Here are the steps to create this look...
