Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

I have been on a bit of a mission to improve the overall health of my skin recently. I've had this Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate for a while now but for whatever reason I have never got round to using it. This product was suggested to me while I was picking up my holy grail moisturiser (their Ultra Facial Cream if you're interested!) and was told it was their best selling product...so naturally I had to try it.

The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is an overnight treatment for the face with 99.8% naturally derived ingredients that aims to replenish the skins moisture leaving you with younger, softer and smoother looking skin by morning. It is enriched with Squalane, Evening Primrose Oil, Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oils including Lavender to intensely moisturise dehydrated skin.

Housed in a glass bottle with glass pipette applicator, I like the old school apothecary feel to the packaging which is in keeping with the brand's style. The clever little pipette only picks up the amount of oil you should use on your face so there's no need to worry about using too much.

After I've completed my usual skincare routine, I put a drop of this on my forehead, each cheek, nose and chin. I then pat the oil into my skin before gently massaging it. You can use this with your regular night time moisturiser or as a substitute, the choice is yours. I personally use it together as my skin can get as dry as the Sahara, the more moisture the better! The oil has a potent lavender scent to it. If you detest the smell of lavender you're going to hate this. I actually think it is a really calming and soothing scent for an overnight product. For an oil, I think it does absorb fairly quickly into the skin. You will have a greasy residue on the skin but that is to be expected.

When I wake up in the morning after using this, my skin is hardly recognisable. It looks brighter, smoother and feels baby soft. The stubborn dry patches I get on my forehead are almost undetectable and it makes me look as if I've had the best nights sleep. My skin doesn't look greasy either which just goes to show how much the skin actually absorbs the product in overnight.

In my opinion I can't fault this product. For £36, it's very reasonably priced and definitely worth giving this a try for yourself. This should last ages as a little of this oil goes a long way and because of the pipette applicator its practically impossible to use too much. I've been using this for every night for two months straight and I've hardly made a dent in it. In terms of how well this would work for oily skin types I'm not 100% sure as I don't have oily skin. I've heard however that if you use products with natural oils, you can actually trick oily skin into producing less oil.

    1. Hi Jay, I'm not sure if it will help with spots per say... If your using exfoliating and deep cleansing products at the moment to get rid of the spots this is going to help re moisturise your skin as those types of products dry out your skin. I do recommend the superdrug clay mask I did a review on a few weeks ago. Thats helped me with my spot problem! Hope this helps xx
