Lush | The Mask Of Magnaminty

Sunday, 15 December 2013

In the never ending quest for beautiful skin, the Mask Of Magnaminty from Lush has recently become my most reached for face mask in these past few months. I am relatively new to Lush products, and I bought this mask in particular because Nicole Guerrero and Jaclyn Hill from YouTube picked it up in a recent haul (if you don't know who I'm talking about you need to check them out!).

For starters, this mask smells just like mint chocolate chip ice cream. It kind of looks like it too with the ground aduki beans in it which help to exfoliate the skin. If you don't like the smell of peppermint in face products then this mask probably isn't for you. I know some people find it quite overpowering, however I think it is a really refreshing scent.

The consistency of this mask is really thick and creamy and has a slightly gel like feel to it. It applies smoothly to the face and mask instantly cools the skin which then creates a tingling feeling. To me this feels so invigorating and makes me feel like the mask is really getting to work in removing impurities deep down in my pores. This sensation comes from the peppermint oil in the mask that stimulates blood flow, and is meant to reduce redness of acne. As the mask dries and hardens, the feeling wears off.

The mask takes around ten minutes to dry and hardens to a crumbly clay sort of finish. It does tighten on the skin as it dries but its not uncomfortable. To rinse off, you can use your hands or a face cloth. As this mask has exfoliating particles in it, you have the option of gently scrubbing your face as you remove it. This is how I choose to remove it as I have dry skin I and any sort of exfoliating is good for me! It is really gentle though, so even if your skin is sensitive it shouldn't irritate it.

After using the Mask of Magnaminty, my skin always looks instantly brighter and more alive. I have this sort of glow that only comes when something really deeply cleanses my skin. This mask works wonders on my pores, in particular on my cheeks and makes them much less visible. The peppermint smell lingers on the face too which makes my skin smell really fresh and clean. Straight after using this mask I spray a couple of spritz of Lush's Tea Tree Water- read my review here, and then apply my regular moisturiser. I like to use this once a week to give my skin a little TLC after a long hard week!

This mask can be used on other areas of the body that suffers from acne like the back or chest. As this doesn't really happen to me I have never used it on anywhere other than my face. Lush offers two different tub sizes so first timers don't have to commit to the largest tub. I actually think I will stick to the smaller tub (125g) as even this size looks like it will last me a little while, and makes it easier to use before the expiration date. This mask doesn't need to be kept in the fridge to keep it fresh, but you can to make it even more cooling on the skin.

The Mask Of Magnaminty can be purchased in store or online for £5.25 (125g) or £9.25 (315g)- link

    1. Hi Maria I don't see why it wouldn't work for oily skin types as this is a deep cleaning mask. I don;t think it will control oil on the skin but cleaning out the pores might help? x
