Ever since pictures showed up online of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, I knew I had to have it. I am an absolute sucker for warm brown and bronze eyeshadow shades, not to mention the actual palette itself is gorgeous to look at! The Chocolate Bar palette was inspired by their best-selling cocoa powder based Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (reviewed by me here) where the powder actually smells (and tastes) like chocolate!
This palette reminds me so much of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory! The super cute vintage candy wrapper box conceals one of the most pretty looking palettes ever. The sturdy metal case in the shape of a chocolate bar is so original and looks good enough to eat. The palette is surprisingly light weight for a metal case, but I think it could have been slimmed down a bit to make it easier to travel with.
The palette contains 16 eyeshadows, 14 regular sized pans and 2 double sized pans in the shades White Chocolate and Champagne Truffle. The only reason I can think of for doing this is that the shades can be used as highlighters for the face. Champagne Truffle makes a beautiful cheekbone highlight.White Chocolate however is a matte shade which wouldn't be my first choice in highlighting but works great on the brow bone. The subtle scent of chocolate is devine and not at all overpowering .It also ties in nicely with all the delicious names they have chosen for each of the shadows.
The palette consists of mainly warm neutral shades with a few pops of pink and purple. Purples are my second favourite to warm browns and look beautiful on every eye colour. I am so impressed with the variety of finishes in this palette and they are all so pigmented. Most of the shades are buttery soft and so finely milled. Even the more glittery shades like Gilded Ganache and Black Forest Truffle aren't incredibly chunky. Matte shades like Salted Caramel and Milk Chocolate are perfect transition shades for any eye look and I would buy this palette just for those two! Good matte shades are hard to come by!
This palette has now rightfully claimed its place as my favourite palette ever. I am in love with everything about this palette from the quality of the shadows to the variety of finishes. I can create a full eyeshadow look with the perfect matte shades for the crease and even highlight my face with shades like champagne truffle. There are endless possibilities with this palette to create day and night looks and even hints of pink and purples when I want something a bit colourful. This palette is so universal, and the cute packaging and chocolate scent only add to its appeal. Everyone needs this palette in their life.
